Galileo Satellite Navigation System EU in 2013

The approval this week by the European Parliament of the new plans for the proposed system Galileo navigation satellite GPS should be in orbit in 2013.

The European Commission recommended (after estrepitosas and unsuccessful negotiations with the private sector) that the system of GPS navigation satellite Galileo was 100% financed by public funds, a proposal that was endorsed in June 2007 by the Parliament.

The Satellite Navigation System Galileo will have thirty GPS satellites placed in 3 different orbits, and an altitude of 24,000 kilometers above the earth's surface. Galileo will offer its service and across the Earth's surface, thanks to a network of monitoring stations on land. Each of the 30 Galileo satellites will be equipped with a high-precision atomic clock, allowing you to determine the location of any object or moving with a margin of error of one meter.
